Jimmie Lee Akins – age 80 of Loudon passed away Sunday, May 9, 2021, surrounded by his family. Jim retired from Loudon Hickory Products following 50 years of service. After his retirement, Jim couldn't sit still; he started a lawn mowing service to keep him busy. Jim was an avid card player; he enjoyed shooting pool and drinking his Dr. Pepper; but what Jim is known for most in his family, is his love for making cornbread.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Joe Freeman and Lucy (Lee) Akins; sisters, Edna Russell, Linda Maynard, Mary Ryan, and Johnnie Akins; and several half-brothers. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Nina (Stephens) Akins; daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Jamie Liford, Candi and Brian Goodwin; son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Paulisha Gooden; grandchildren, Morgan Liford, Zach Liford, Brandi and Tony Dupes, Aaron and Kirsten Miller, Callie Gooden and Breanna Gooden; four great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Polly and Bill Miller; brothers-in-law, Billy Russell and Ray Maynard; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
