Edna Mae (Akins) Russell, age 82 of Loudon, passed away Sunday morning, January 17, 2021 at her home with her family by her side.

Edna was born to the late Joe Freeman and Lucy Belle (Lee) Akins in Loudon, TN. Edna was a hard worker and started at Yale as a young lady, logging almost 50 years of service to the company. She was an avid U.T. Basketball fan, supporting both the Men and Women’s program. She enjoyed basketball so much that she would follow just about anybody on the college level. In her younger days, she enjoyed bowling with her co-workers in the leagues and her kids fondly remember spending time doing their homework at the lanes. Edna and her husband enjoyed traveling on bus tours all over the US and took a trip up into Canada.

Edna was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Johnnie Rae Akins, Linda Maynard and Mary Ruth Ryan and a grandson, Dustin Branson.

Survivors include her friend and husband of 57 years, Billy Allen Russell, Loudon; daughters and sons in-law, Pam and Terry Hill, Loudon, Angie and Melvin Branson, Rockwood; grandchildren, Greg and Heather Lambert, Brittni Hill and Brandon Hill, all of Loudon; great grandson, Ethan Lambert; sister and brother in-law, Polly and Bill Miller; brother and sister in-law, Jim and Nina Akins, all of Loudon; several nieces and nephews.

Services honoring and remembering Edna Russell will be held 1:00 PM Graveside Wednesday, Jan. 20th in Mt. Zion Cemetery with Pastor Dwayne Leming officiating.
