MAGNA, UT- LaReta Church Gates, 68, passed away quietly at home surrounded by her family due to complications from a stroke on Dec. 12, 2001.
LaReta was born Sept. 30, 1933 in St. George, Utah to Vernon and Areta Church of LaVerkin, Utah. She married Norman Wellington Gates of Hurricane on Feb. 27, 1952 in the St. George LDS Temple.
She is survived by her husband Norman and her six children: Tin Belka of West Valley, Utah; LaRene Tullis, of Las Vegas, Nevada; Vickie Pulsipher of Lebanon, Missouri; Kathie Garner of Magna, Utah; Paul N. Gates of Farmington, Utah; Daren V. Gates of American Fork, Utah; 31 grandchildren and six great-grand-children.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Sat. Dec. 15, 2001 at the LaVerkin 1st Ward LDS Chapel, 481 North Main in LaVerkin, Utah. Friends may call Sat. morning prior services from 8:30-10:30 at the chapel. Interment will be in the Hurricane City Cemetery under the direction of Spilsbury & Beard Mortuary, St. George, UT- 635-2454.
