"John Wesley Galpin died at the Cottage Hospital, Galesburg, Thanksgiving day, November 23, and was interred at Williamsfield, November 25.

Mr. Galpin married the former Dora Mason at Kewanee April 8, 1900, and last spring the couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. Fond of music, he was a charter member of the Williamsfield band and played in an orchestra which furnished music for many community events.

He resided on the same farm for 77 years and for many years operated a threshing machine, since replaced by the modern combine, the introduction and use of which he watched with interest. He was a frequent visitor in Streator and was well acquainted here." The Times (Streator, Illinois), December 11, 1950
