"John Leonard Scott, 87, died at the home of his son, Roy T. Scott, in Wheeling Wednesday afternoon at 4:15. Mr. Scott had been in failing health for several months and bedfast the last twelve weeks.

John Leonard Scott, a son of the late Seth and Serelda Engle Scott, was born in Mercer County, Mo., on October 29, 1865. He attended school in Mercer County, and in 1891 he married Miss Flora Bell Detrich in Livingston County. She preceded her husband in death in 1901. Mr. Scott lived most of his life in Livingston County in the Bedford and Wheeling communities. He was a member of the Christian Church.

Surviving are two children, Roy T. Scott of Wheeling and Mrs. Birdie Margaret Chapin of Carlisle, Ia.; one sister, Mrs. Rose Woody of Chillicothe; six grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. His parents, wife, three children, two brothers and two sisters preceded Mr. Scott in death.

Funeral services will be held from the chapel of the Norman Funeral Home Saturday morning at 10 o'clock with the Rev. Eugene Frazier, pastor of the First Christian Church, conducting the memorial rites. Interment will be made in the Scott family lot in the Wheeling Cemetery."
