Derwood C. Black, 62, of East Freedom RD 1 died at 2:13 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7, 1989, a home, after a long illness.
A funeral will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at the Marvin C. Leslie Funeral Home, Claysburg, by Vicar Daniel Breda.
Interment will be at Claysburg Union Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
He was born May 14, 1927, in Klahr, son of Howard and Catherine (Ickes) Black, and on March 8, 1952, in Cumberland, Md., married Sarah E. Dodson.
Surviving are his wife; two sons, Allen L. of Richmond, Va., and Richard B. of West Valley, N. Y.
Also surviving are five brothers and a sister, Leon of Queen, Guy of Imler RD 1, Harry of Canton, Mich., Shirley Knisely of Mechanicsburg, Michael of Claysburg RD 1 and Norman of Coalport. He retired as an electrician from General Refractories, Sproul, after 35 years. He was a member of the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, East Freedom. He was a member of the Claysburg American Legion; and the Odd Fellows Lodge, Claysburg.
