John Kyle Blackmon entered this world on Sept. 19, 1956 in Galveston County Memorial Hospital in Texas City, Texas, born to his parents, John Edwin Blackmon and Theda Dolores (DeBarge) Blackmon.

Because he accepted Christ as his savior at an early age, he left on Jan. 27, 2021 to join his Lord in heaven.

He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, especially with his bow. When asked what he killed most of the time, his answer was "time." He had a long battle with a wild turkey who eventually outsmarted him. His favorite place was his camp in north Louisiana. He often texted us pictures of the bears in his front yard.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Edwin Blackmon.

Survivors are his mother, Theda Dolores Burnett of Austin, Texas; his brother, Glen Blackmon and wife, Janell of Montgomery, Texas; sisters, Joan Burnett Lewman and husband Tom and Jan Pennington and husband Marty; plus his favorite two little people, Gabriel Parsons and Holland Bergeron of Sulphur, La. He is also survived by a special companion, Anita Abshire of Carlyss.

Kyle was raised by his mother and caring stepfather, Joe Burnett, in University Place where he attended Dolby Elementary, Forrest K. White Junior High, Barbe High, and McNeese State University.

He served in the United States Army and worked most of his life as an electrician.

The family wishes to thank the caregivers, especially the Covid-19 ICU staff at West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital in Sulphur and St. Francis Cabrini in Alexandria, La. where he passed away.

We are especially grateful for the arrangements to say goodbye via Zoom.
Arrangements are pending due to Covid restrictions.
