E. H. McElhaney Dies At Warren
Elijah M. McElhaney, 74, town marshall of Warren for a period of 12 years, died Wednesday at his home there of a heart ailment. He had been in failing health for three years, and suffered the fatal seizure three days before his death.
He was a native of Huntington county, in Salamonie township, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Jefferson McElhaney. He married Ida E. Hunnicutt Feb. 12, 1898, in Wells county.
Surviving are the widow, two daughters, Mrs. Thelma Sisson, Marion, and Hazel Jacobs, Liberty Center route one; a son, Harry McElhaney, of Warren, seven grandchildren and a great grandchild.
Mr. McElhaney had lived in Huntington county all of his life. He was at one time a poultry buyer and served as town marshall from 1936 to 1948. He was a member of the King Lodge, F. & A. M., No. 246, Warren, and the Christian church at Warren.
The body was removed to the H. Brown & Son funeral home in Warren.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Warren Christian church at 2 p.m. Friday in charge of Rev. J. E. McCorkhill, of Alexandria and Rev. Leo McKinley, the pastor. Burial will be in the Masonic cemetery.
