Bill Jones
Bill David Jones, 73, of Route 2, Fairmont, died Tuesday (July 4, 2000) at his residence.
He was born Jan. 22, 1927, at Farmington, the son of the late Okey R. and Roxie B. Hess Jones.
He was retired from Consolidation Coal Company Loveridge Mine No. 22 at Fairview with 26 years of service. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America Local 9909. He served with the U. S. Army in Korea. He enjoyed gardening and reading.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Virginia Catherine Toothman Jones of Fairmont; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Lisa and David F. Lucas II of Grafton, Maronee Gail Jones of Fairmont, and Carol and Peter W. Damico of Fairmont; two grandsons, Adam F. Lucas and David E. Campbell; a brother, John L. Jones of Farmington; a sister, Louise H. Myers and husband Eugene of Farmington; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Launa Jones.
Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. today at the Masters Funeral Home in Mannington. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the International Order of Odd Fellows Cemetery at Farmington with the Rev. Chris Mullett officiating. Flag folding services will be conducted by the Honor Guard of the Charles Millan Post No. 40, American Legion Post, Mannington.
