Lawrence "Lonnie" Edward Tickle, 85, of Rockingham County passed away on April 7, 2021 at his home.

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
Known as "Big Lawrence"; Lonnie was born in Rockingham County to the late John Boone Tickle and Hattie Lee Jones. He was an avid boxing fan; he ran away to New York when he was 18 to become a boxer. He then quit high school to join the U.S. Air Force as an aircraft mechanic. After 4 years he returned home and graduated from George Washington High School in Danville Va. He then did 4 additional years in the Air Force serving in Fussa, Japan at the Yokota Air Force Base where he was commended on his Japanese language translation ability. He then returned home to North Carolina after spending some time in Englin Florida, where he worked for more than 30 years at Burlington Industries as a loom repairman and T.V repairman until he retired in 2004. Since then he remained in his long time home until 2018 when he moved in with his daughter, Anna.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Margie Moore, and Francis "Bag"; brothers, Leo "Buck" Tickle, George "Fester" Tickle, Howard Tickle, and Carl Tickle as well as a son in law, Jose "Mocha" Terrazas.

Lawrence is survived by his children, Stacy Conway Tickle Sr., Laurie Tickle Allen and husband, Brian, Lawrence Edward Tickle Jr. and wife, Kaitlyn, Anna Tickle Terrazas, Miranda Tickle Zamudio and husband Rene; grandchildren, Cassandra Tickle Burton and husband Chad, Grace Elizabeth Tickle; Stacy Conway Tickle, Jr., Savannah Allen, Mariah Allen, Brennah Allen, Noah Allen, Harper Tickle, Ember Tickle, Aleigha Tickle, Lana Tickle, Gabriela Terrazas, Tristan Zamudio, Natalie Zamudio and Madelyn Zamudio along with numerous nieces, nephews and a large and loving extended family.
