Early Pioneer To Monona County arriving in 1856 and settling on Section 19 of what would later be Jordan Township (then being part of Belvidere Twp). He was said to be the wealthiest person in the county at one time. He was involved in early politics of the creation of Jordan Township and placed in charge of the first elections of the township. He started a broom factory on his farm in which this cemetery lies, and employed lots of people, many of which lived and died on the Miers farm and are buried within this cemetery. He joined the Monona County Home Guard to protect Monona County against the Sioux Indians, but the group never really did much.

He married Maria Benton and had two known children, Joseph and Mary "Polly" Jane (Miers) Rickman. He married 2nd, Mary (Possibly Carvo) and she supposedly died in River Sioux, IA shortly after Adam died and she may be within this cemetery as well.

Adam died Oct 20, 1904 in Sherman Township on a farm later owned by Earl Collison. He was buried in the "negro cemetery" Oct 21, 1904, later called the Black Cemetery, and much later, South Jordan Cemetery.
