Barbara Ann Baxter (Ashbaugh) was born on February 1, 1931, the first of five children to parents Minnie (Bartman) and Glenn Ashbaugh in Bonners Ferry, ID. She attended school in Colville, graduating in 1949. Shortly after graduating, she married LeRoy Baxter in 1950. Barbara worked for and retired from Safeway, where she was a checker.
Barb passed away at home with her family by her side on April 1st. She is preceded in death by her parents, her three infant children, her brothers Bill and John, her siblings-in-laws: David Baxter, Jerry Baxter, Darlene McEntire, Roberta "Bertie" Ashbaugh, Ruby "Rusty" Ashbaugh, Shirley "Jeanne" Ashbaugh, Stan Kaiser, Ned Campbell, her husband LeRoy, and her son Jerry. She is survived by her three children, two children-in-laws, as well as eight grandchildren, three grandson-in-laws, seven great grandchildren, and one great-great grandson. She also leaves behind a brother and a sister, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Barbara was the heart of the family and there are no words to describe how much she will be missed.
Barb's family wish to thank Carlahn Gayda and Christy Campbell of Hospice of Spokane for the fabulous care they provided her during her final days.
A service was held on Monday April 12th at 1:00 pm at Thornhill Funeral Home on Pines, space is very limited, with a much larger graveside service to follow at 2:30 at Pines Cemetery.
