Susie L. Benson of Watkins Glen, NY Age 82 passed away Thursday, February 21, 2002 at the Schuyler Hospital in Montour Falls, NY. Born August 12, 1919 in Millerton, PA she was a daughter of the late Walter and Eliza White Griffin.

Surviving are her daughters; Eliene (Robert) Putnam of Hector, NY and Joyce Chrzan of Orrs Island, ME. Stepson, Ronald (Marcia) Stout of Jersey Shore, PA. Grandchildren; Cathy (Tim) Beardslee of Columbia Crossroads, PA, Evan (Dianna) Chrzan of Oxford, NC, Sherri (Frankj) McFalls of Orrs Island, ME, Leslie (Gregory) Updyke of Watkins Glen, NY, Lorri Chrzan of Philadelphia, PA., Amy (Matthew) Schneider of Ashburn, VA., Amy (Todd) Carr of Towanda, PA and Joanna Stout of Jersey Shore, PA. Great-grandchildren; Marc, Miranda Beardslee, Pamela, Chad, Traci Chrzan, Dakota, Hunter McFalls, James, Joshua Updyke and Alison Chrzan. 3 sisters; Dora (Thomas) Landon of Canton, PA, Delores (Albert) Wheeler of Elmira, NY and Louise (Tallie) Marsh of Elmira, NY. A brother, Robert (Sandra) Griffin of Tioga, PA and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Also survived by a special friend Chesta (Joseph) Hembrooke of Ocoee, FL.

Susie was predeceased by her husband, Lester Benson, 2 grandchildren Michael Chrzan and Cindy Chrzan and 3 sisters, Myrtle Cook, Myra Benson and Blanche Crum Horton.

Susie was a member of the First Baptist Church, Watkins Glen, NY and of the Eastern Star No. 323, Big Flats, NY. She was a very active worker with R.S.V.P. She was retired from Remington-Rand and later from the US Postal Service. She was an avid quilter and enjoyed the time she spent at Seneca Lake. She especially enjoyed the precious time she spent with her grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday, February 24, 2002 from 1 to 3 PM at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira. The funeral and committal service will be held there Sunday following calling hours at 3 PM with the Rev. Leonard Miller, officiating. Interment will be in Roseville Cemetery, Roseville, PA at the convenience of the family.
