Funeral Services for Henry R. Collins of Livingston, Texas were held on Sunday, February 26, 2017 at Pace Funeral Home, with the Reverend C.E. Lott officiating
Mr. Collins was born on November 23, 1931 in Georgia to Henry and Bessie Collins. He died on February 24, 2017 surrounded by his family.
Henry served his country in the United States Air Force as a staff sergeant for four years. He put men thru basic training at Lackland AFB and he later was stationed at Tinker AFB with the job of flying cargo to the different bases.
He received a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from Oklahoma State University in 1959. He has been employed with Phillips Petroleum in Bartlesville, Oklahoma and Arco Chemical in Channelview in the research and development departments. He worked for a short time in Venezuela.
Henry has been self-employed since 1967. He moved his business to Livingston in 1972.
Mr. Collins has eight patents to his credit. His Collins Swirlklean Bypass Filter and his custom-designed sampling systems are sold to over 60 countries around the world, primarily to petroleum refineries. His Swirlklean Bypass Filter is considered worldwide as the standard design for filtering sub-micron particles from hydrocarbon process streams.
He is preceded in death by his parents and several siblings. His precious son, Wayne, died five years ago.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Janis Collins and is son, David Collins. He is also survived by brothers, Willie Collins and Mac Collins of Jackson, Georgia.
Henry was a wonderful father, husband and brother, as well as a friend to many. Those close to him knew his loving and generous spirit and his sense of humor. He will be loved, forever missed and will be in our thoughts forever. Everyone who knew him was blessed.
