US Congressman. A member of the Republican Party, he served Georgia's 3rd (1993 to 2003) and 8th (2003-2005) Congressional Districts in the United States House of Representatives. Following high school, he founded and operated a trucking company. He became interested in politics and was elected to the Georgia State Senate (1989 to 1993). During his tenure in Congress, he served on the Intelligence and Ways and Means Committees. He had an unsuccessful bid for the US Senate in 2004.
