Fred is said to have served in the 22nd Georgia Battalion, CSA. He was a farmer and a law enforcement officer, serving as a marshal of Douglasville in the 1880s and, prior to World War I, as deputy sheriff under Sheriff Alfred Seawright BAGGETT, per an account believed to have been compiled by Henley CAMPBELL and sent to me (jml) in 1993 by Lee CAMPBELL of Lincolnshire, IL.
