Bertha Schiffner, wife of Frank Schiffner, died yesterday afternoon at 4:20 o'clock at her late home, 42 South Law street, following an illness of five months, aged 38 years 4 months and 6 days. Deceased was born in Berks County, the daughter of Reuben and Lovina nee Herman Merkel and was a resident of Allentown for the last twenty-eight years. She was confirmed a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church. There survives the husband; one son, Stanley, at home; two brothers: William and James Merkel, both of Allentown; four sisters: Marietta Stephens, Fogelsville; Louisa Druckenmiller, Bethlehem; Libbie Edelman, Detroit; Bella Ochs, Allentown. Funeral services will be held from her late home on Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock with interment in Highland Cemetery.
