Amelia was born on March 13, 1884 to Anna (Andersen) and Andrew Magnisson (sp?) in Burr Oak, Iowa. She shares this birthdate with her twin sister, Emma. Their parents were born in Denmark...the father being a ship captain (or crew member?). After Amelia's younger sister Victoria was born, it appears the parents parted although the circumstance is unknown. Her mother Anna remarried, and Peter Petersen became the dad to all three girls. Anna and Peter are buried in the LeRoy Lutheran Cemetery in LeRoy, Mower county, MN.
Amelia Peterson married Charles (Charley) Christianson on December 15, 1904 in LeRoy, MN. Amelia's younger sister Victoria and Joseph Hooker Hatlestad (who became Amelia's brother-in-law when he married her twin sister Emma in 1905) served as witnesses.
Charley and Amelia had a daughter in 1906, but little Merle passed away from Cholera Infantum in 1908.
Charley died of a cerebral hemorrhage on March 10, 1964 in LeRoy, MN. He was buried in the Bloomfield Lutheran Cemetery on March 13, 1964 near his daughter, who preceded him in death.
Amelia suffered another loss when her twin sister passed away in November 1970.
Amelia died of a coronary occlusion on December 26, 1971 at the Spring Valley Community Hospital in Spring Valley, Fillmore County, MN. She was buried beside Charley.
