"Dear Brother:
I don't know when I wrote to you last for I have been sick a long time, I lost my darling twin boys, born in 1883, and , Oh, they were so nice and pretty. We are well now. Gilbert has made lots of money, but we have lots of expenses. We sent Leslie to school in Provo at age 14. We buy vegetables from California. We live about four miles from Fort Bayard, a large camp for soldiers to keep the Indians and Mexicans peaceful.
Your sister,
Kate"
