She met Don Smith on his return form service in World War II. After a short courtship, they married November 13, 1945 in Mountain Home, Arkansas.
Geraldine was a resident of Rogersville moving there from Nixa. She was a postal clerk with 25 plus years of service retiring in 1988. Geraldine enjoyed cross stitch, embroidery and making numerous beautiful quilts. Mom was an accomplished seamstress, she also enjoyed her flowers. Also, she leaves behind her cat Socks. She was a talented musician having never taken classes just playing by ear. She enjoyed attending bluegrass festivals with her husband.
She taught in a one room country school and substitute taught. Using her own car, she bused kids to the upper Brixey School.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 57 years, sister, Norene and her husband Doyne, brother Arnold D. Farmer, and son-in-law, Jack Van Ness.
Survivors include a daughter, Mickey Van Ness, son Larry Smith and his wife Mickey, and a daughter, Galene Johnson and her husband Delbert, seven grandchildren, Jerry, Jacqueline, Misty, Lisa, Terry, Dawn, Sabrina and their spouses; six great-grandchildren, Ryann, Coy, Warren, Thackery, Shyla, and Ty; two great-grandchildren, Bryson and Colt; a sister-in-law, Donna (Toots) Farmer,
