Betty Jane (Hampshire) Gillette, 77 of York was peacefully called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at her home.

Born March 30, 1943 in Hanover, she was the daughter of the late Charles E. and Esta C. (Wildasin) Hampshire.

Betty was raised in Hanover, PA where she attended school and worked in a sewing factory. She also made decorative bows that were signature pieces at Hanover's historic Auchey's Plant Farm, owned by her half-sister, Thelma Auchey.

Betty enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking holiday dinners and being part of every birthday celebration for her grandchildren. She was an animal lover and a dog mom to many four-legged companions throughout her life.

Betty was preceded in death by Edward E. Gillette, Sr. (2019). She is survived by 3 children: Christina M. Cross of York, Cindy E. (Gillette) Hopkins and her fiancé, Daryl Vandersloot of York and Edward E. Gillette, Jr. and his wife, Lisa of York; 4 grandchildren: Nicole Dries and husband Brian, Brandon Cross, Skylin Cross and fiancé Maggie, Seth Garner and wife Danielle and 4 great-grandchildren: Melody Cross, Leon Zimmerman, Sarah Garner and Nicholas Garner.

A funeral service to celebrate Betty's life will be held in private, followed by interment in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Hanover.
