Mrs. Sallie Whitten, widow of the late John Whitten, died at her home on Hans creek, this county, on Thursday, Oct. 10, 1907, after a brief illness. She was a Miss Baker and her age was about 63 years. Mrs. Whitten was an excellent woman, sincerely respected and esteemed, and long a devout member of the Methodist Church. She was a sister of Mrs. Jas. McGhee, Mrs. J. Harvey Gwinn and Messers J. H. And Shannon Baker of this county, Dr. Ward Baker of Lincoln county, Mrs. Elizabeth Minner and Mrs. Lucy Broyles of Kansas, and Mr. Robert Baker of Washington state. She leaves no children. Her burial took place last Friday in the family graveyard near Mr. Shannon Baker’s home.
