Francis Meloy- With sincere regret we have to announce the death of a member of one of the most worthy and respectable families in the city. Francis Meloy, who departed this life on the 16th day of May, 1878, at the residence of his parents in this city.
The deceased gentleman, cut down after a lingering illness of several weeks, which he bore with the greatest fortitude, in the infancy of life, the 21st year of his age, respected by all who knew him, and sustained by the affection of his devout parents, brothers and sisters, by most of whom he was surrounded in his last moments.
His death was that of a pious christian resigned to the will of his Creator.
His funeral took place on Sunday last, and his remains attended to their last resting place, under the auspices of the Catholic Total Abstianance and Benevolent Society, (of which he was a creditable member) draped in their full regalia of mourning and a large and respectable concourse of mourning friends.
The parents and family of the deceased have the sympathy in this trial of the community. He was a kind son and affectionate and indulgent brother, and upright citizen, and was destined to fulfill all the duties of this life with intelligence and credit.
