FLOOD SERVICES SET TOMORROW

Four grandsons of Allen H. Flood, 88, Spokane pioneer and founder of the Broadview Dairy, will be among the pallbearers at the service set for 1 o'clock tomorrow at Smith's. Burial will be in the family plot at Greenwood.

The bearers are; Everett Flood, Longview; John and Richard Lewis, Spokane and Lieutenant Robert F. Goldsworthy, Brooks Field, Texas, the grandsons, Joseph W. Rupley, Spokane, and Glenn Biddle, Loon Lake.

Mr. Flood first came west in 1888 to San Francisco and then to Spokane in 1889. He helped survey Hays Park and a part of what is now Hillyard. Some time later he engaged in the lumber business at Marshall junction. He returned to Spokane in 1897 and went into the dairy business. As the Broadview company's president for many years he took an active part in campaigns for dairy better-ments and climination of infected cows from the dairy herds. It is said his dairy was the first to test for tuberculosis.

Recent Operation

The aged pioneer underwent a major operation three weeks ago and had so far recovered that a son, Frank, New York, who was visiting him, left four days ago for his home. Tuesday Mr. Flood's condition became worse and he died yesterday at the Culmstock Arms.

He was a member of the Odd Fellows and the Knights of Pythias and held a life membership with the former orde.

Surviving are two sons, Frank B., a former general manager of the diary, and Edmund, Longview; three daughters, Mrs. H. E. Goldsworthy, Rosalia; Mrs. Lewis A. Lewis, Veradale, and Mrs. J. Houston McCroskey, Spokane; a niece, Mrs. Ethelyn Muzzy, Spokane, and several nephews and nieces in the east; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. His wife, Mrs. Lizzie Brackett Flood, died a year ago.
