Woodrow ''Woody'' Spence Sr., of the 400 block of Bessie Walke, died June 14, 2002.
He was a member of Little Piney Grove Church of Christ Disciples, Harbinger, N.C., and its Trustee Board.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn R. Spence; two daughters, Shirley Langston and husband, Robert of Chesapeake, Kim Tankersley and husband, Patrick of Virginia Beach; a son, Woodrow Spence Jr. of Virginia Beach; two sisters, Mary Bright and Shirley Fisher and husband, Melvin of Virginia Beach; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A funeral will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Ridge Church of Christ Disciples, Virginia Beach, by Elder Daniel Boston Jr. Burial will be in Asbury United Methodist Church, Virginia Beach. Community Funeral Home, Virginia Beach, is in charge of arrangements. "
