Services for Mrs. C.D.Davis were held in the First Methodist Church. She was the widow of a pioneer Jones County attorney who was serving as district attorney at the time of his death. She and her husband, Commodore Perry "Dick" Davis established the first newspaper in Jones County - The Texas Western. She was raised and educated in Franklin County. She was married there in 1879 and moved with her husband to Jones County in 1882 settling in Anson. Survived by three daughters - Mrs. Lalla Bailey, Mrs. Sid G. Castles, Mrs. E.W. Harrell.
