JOLIAT, Roger - (Sir Knight Assembly Mgr. Adolphe Proulx) - The family announces with sorrow, his death in Sudbury, Friday, May 15, 2009 at the age of 81 years. Son of the late Adrien and of the late Pamela (née Mainville) Joliat. Beloved husband of 61 years to Rollande Joliat (née Vachon) of Azilda. Loving father of Lorraine Dupuis (Claude) of Azilda, Colette Joliat of Chelmsford and Estelle Joliat (Glenn Warren) of Sudbury. Dear brother of Hortense Labine (late Robert) and Richard Joliat (Corine) both of Azilda, Claire Blais (late Omer) of Chelmsford, Jean-Jacques Joliat (Florence) of Geneva Lake and Marcel Joliat (late Hélène) (Cécile) of Kirkland Lake. Predeceased by his brother Gérard (Rolande of Chelmsford) and his sisters Réjeanne Portelance (late Claude) and Anne-Marie Miron (Jean-Paul of Timmins). Sadly missed by his grandchildren Josée Dupuis (Peter Kuk), Céline Beaulieu (Ivan), Daniel Lemieux (Lyne). Lovingly remembered by many relatives and friends. Mr. Joliat was retired from Inco after 35 years of service. He was a devoted family man of strong faith, well liked, loved and respected by all. Roger will be remembered for having been very involved in his community; devoted member of Ste-Agnès Parish, Deputy Chief of the Rayside Balfour Fire Department for 38 years, founding member of the "Caisse Populaire Azilda Inc., member of the Knights of Columbus, council 11219 of Azilda and of the 4th degree, Mgr. Adolphe Proulx Assembly, board member of several committees, mostly on the financial committee for Ste. Agnès Church, Rayside Balfour Municipal Council member, CVDCS School Board Member and police officer during the 1958 strike and entrepreneur of Blind Unlimited and Frosty Freeze. In his leisure times, Roger enjoyed golfing, fishing and bowling. The family will receive relatives and friends at the CO-OPERATIVE FUNERAL HOME, 4691, RR 15, CHELMSFORD, Monday from 2-5 and 7- 9:30 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in Ste-Agnès Church, Azilda. Donations (by cheque only) to Northern Cancer Research Foundation or Maison Vale Inco Hospice would be appreciated.
