Rosemary Butler was born on September 21, 1933, in Dublin, Georgia to Buford Alexander and Maude Lou (Kight) Butler. She met Kenneth Arneson while he was stationed at Langley Air Base in Virginia, and they married on December 27, 1958. After Ken retired from the military in 1962, they moved to Grand Forks, ND where Rosemary remained until 2005, when her failing health caused her to move to Alabama where she could be cared for by her oldest daughter's (Sharon's) family.
Although not born a "Northerner", Rosemary was fiercely loyal to Grand Forks, UND, and all of the local arts and culture. She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, was active in several bridge groups, enjoyed cooking, traveling and entertaining, and had a successful career later in life as a salesperson for the Casual Corner. However, not even 40+ years of living in North Dakota could take the South out of this belle, and Rosemary will be remembered by all who knew her for her warm Southern hospitality and accent, her gracious smile, her infectious sense of humor and her eccentricities.
She is survived by her daughters: Sharon (Nick) Brown of McKenzie, AL and Janet Arneson (Scott Tjaden) of Inver Grove Heights, MN; grandchildren: Jacob Olson, Erik Olson, Niki Bennett and Kaylyn Brown; two great-grandchildren; and one sister, Harriet Hatcher of Melbourne, FL.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Arneson.
