Willie was a dedicated member of Unity Presbyterian Church in Woodleaf, serving as an Elder and Sunday School teacher for many years. He was a Lifetime member of the Woodleaf Civitan Club, where he held numerous leadership positions and received an Award for 60 years of dedicated service. Most importantly, Willie loved his family and was always there to cheer them on and support their many endeavors whether they were playing sports, acting in a play or just playing in his backyard. As hard as he worked he also loved to play. Many years of enjoyment were spent on Lake Norman where he taught lots of young people how to waterski. He built playhouses, planted trees and went on bike rides with his grandchildren. At 80 years old he tried his hand at zip lining in the mountains where he and his family spent lots of family time together.
