James Franklin "Jimmy" Greene, Sr., 81, of Lake City, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, March 7, 2021 with his family by his side after a brief illness. He was born in Lake City on September 1, 1939 to the late John Franklin Greene and Lucille Bishop Greene. He has made Lake City his home his entire life and was of the Baptist faith. He was a truck driver for G.W. Hunter and Florida Rock for many years and was a longtime member of the Lake City Masonic Lodge #27 and the Lake City Shrine Club, which was a big part of his life. Known fondly as the "pileau" man, he enjoyed cooking and raising money for many different organizations. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He is preceded in death by three sisters, Muriel Disbrow, Nona Norris and Carol Batey.

He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Susan Greene; sons, James Greene Jr. and John Greene (Laurel); daughters, Kimberly Maxwell (Cary) and Melissa Bailey; sisters, Linda Thomas and Donna Hughes; eight (8) grandchildren, Bryon Maxwell (Laura), Justin Douylliez, McKenzie Brown, Kendall Greene, Logan Greene, Daphne Greene, Abby Greene, John Greene Jr., and five (5) great-grandchildren, Aniston Maxwell, Liam Maxwell, Miles Maxwell, Emmett Douylliez and Hunter Douylliez, along with numerous friends and family.

A celebration of Jimmy's life will be conducted on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel with Rev. Ken Hamilton officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 P.M. (one hour prior to the services) at the funeral home.
