Ann Servies
December 8, 1933-December 22, 2017

Ann was born in Rush Springs, Oklahoma, the first child of Edmond and Lucille Jolley. In 1936, the family moved to Phoenix, where Ann was raised. After graduating from high school, she enrolled in college at the University of Chicago and received a BA upon her graduation in 1954. Ann’s first job was as a case worker for the city of Chicago Welfare Department.

Ann married Dave Servies in 1956, and upon his graduation from the university, the couple moved to Seattle. She retained her interest in social work by joining the children’s service division in King County.

Ann had her first child before the family moved to nearby Bainbridge Island in 1959. She became a full-time homemaker before two more children were born. After a transfer to Spokane, the family returned to Seattle and then settled in Billings in 1980.

Ann always had the ability to make a house a home. She loved to tend to her flowers, grow vegetables in raised “square foot gardens” and read novels. She also became a CPA and worked in public accounting for the rest of her new career.

After retirement, Ann and Dave traveled to visit the children, took many cruises and Elder Hostel Seminars, and spent time growing a large postage stamp collection. She especially enjoyed frequent reunions with old friends from Chicago.

After a recent move to Aspen View, it was necessary to move to RiverStone Hospice House where she passed away. She had requested cremation, and no services are planned.

Ann is survived by brother Don, husband Dave, son Tyler (Lynda), daughter Lee Binz (Matt), son Byron, three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
