Born Nov. 8, 1920 at Pineola, NC, she was the daughter of the late George and Flora Benfield Clark. She was a member and elder at Pineola Presbyterian Church and previously was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Erwin.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Smith G. "Dub" Chapman in 1996; her brother Edgar Clark in 1995; two sisters; Esther Clark Winters in 2003 and Melba West in 2003.
She is survived by her daughter, Marguerite Chapman Allen of Linville, NC; three sons, Joe Chapman of Linville Falls, NC, Mark Chapman of Pineola, NC and Michael Chapman of Erwin, TN; one sister, Tess Coulter of Spruce Pine, NC; sister-in-law Clara Pentergrass of Marion, NC. *Source- Johnson City Press, June 18, 2005, Page 2
