Wallace L. A. Benoit, 73, died Saturday, June 7, 2003 in his residence under the care of Hospice Savannah, Inc.

The Gueydan, Louisiana native had lived in Savannah since 1968. The U. S. Air Force veteran served during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War in the explosive ordinance disposal division and retired in 1968 as a Tech Sergeant with 20 years of service. He was also retired from Southeastern Maritime and Straughn Shipping Company where he was employed for over 20 years. He was a member of the disabled American Veterans and The Might 8th Air Force Society.

He is survived by wife, Mary "Betty" Benoit of Savannah; daughters, Nancy Stewart of Boca Raton, Fla., Rebecca Hendricks, Yvonne Strahle and Rhonda Benoit, all of Savannah and Marla Grady of Wilmington, N.C.; son, Michiel Rene Benoit of Satsuma, Ala.; one sister, three brothers, 18 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation: 6:00-8:00 p.m., Monday, June 9 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.

Funeral Services: 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 10 in Tabernacle Baptist Church with Reverend Robert L. Tice officiating.

Burial: Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park.
