Ernest was born in Klondike, LA to Albert Benoit and Elaine (Hargrave) Benoit on March 11, 1944. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and hunting. Ernest also enjoyed spending his spare time doing carpentry work, mechanical work, and welding. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Ernest is survived by his wife, Edna Benoit of Lake Arthur, LA; sons, Shannon James (Kimberly) Benoit of Hayes, LA, Shadwik James (Amanda) Benoit of Roanoke, LA, and Shawn James (Chelsea) Benoit of Lake Arthur, LA; daughter, Tina (Kim Keefer) Benoit of Magnolia, TX; and grandchildren, Dakota, Krista, Bryce, Alyssa, Noah, and Eli.
Ernest was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Elaine H. Benoit; his brothers; and his sisters.
Funeral Service for Ernest Benoit will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at 2:00 PM with Deacon Mike Tramel officiating. Visitation will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 15th from 10:30 AM until time of his Funeral Service.
Ernest will be laid to rest in Hanks Cemetery. Carrying Ernest to his final resting place will be Shannon Benoit, Shadwik Benoit, Shawn Benoit, Dakota Benoit, T.J. Miller, and Wilson Miller. Honorary Pallbearers are Tina Benoit and Krista Benoit.
