Carl R. Verrette, 88, of Clay, passed away peacefully on Sunday. Born and raised in East Syracuse he and his wife Dorothy lived in Clay for over 30 years and spent the winter months in Pompano Beach, FL. He retired from Clinton's Ditch Cooperative as a comptroller after 35 years of service. Prior to that he was a business manager of Syracuse Rendering and Atlas Linen. He was a member of the East Syracuse Fire Department, Lions Club and East Syracuse Jaycees. He was an East Syracuse Village Clerk and elected Trustee. He was a communicant of St. Matthew's Church where he served as an usher and Sacred Heart Church in Cicero. He loved to golf and was a lifetime member of Lakeshore Yacht and Country Club. Carl was a veteran of the U.S Air Force serving during the Korean War at the Sampson Air Force Base.

Carl is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Dorothy (Hanus) Verrette; his children, Jackie (Joseph) DeNero, Sandra (Scott) Rapp, Carl "Chip" Verrette; grandchildren, Julie, Alan and Paul DeNero, Christine (Jason) Nealon, Elizabeth (Ryan) Dirks, Cameron Verrette and Carly Verrette; his great-grandchildren; Oliver Nealon and Henry Dirks; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday 10:30 a.m at Delaney Greabell Adydan Funeral Home and 11:00 a.m. in St. Matthew's Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Entombment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt. Calling Hours will be held on Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home, 241 Kinne Street, East Syracuse.
