James Turner Davis was born in Pine Park, Georgia to John Clifford and Mary Ann Denman Davis. He married Susie Lee Graves in 1905 and they had four children together: Clarence, Clara, Claudia, and Cleo. Susie died in 1914, at the young age of 22. He later married Minnie Lee Nix and they had six children: Clifford, Clorine, Clemons, Clinton, Clark, and Claxton. Interestingly, he named all ten of his children with first names that begin with the letters CL. He was a man of medium height and build, with black hair, and grey eyes. Very hard worker and good provider for his family. He moved to Florida sometime between 1926 and 1928.
His occupation was in the logging/railroad business his entire adult life. In fact, he was injured on the job in a railroad cart accident that resulted in bronchial pneumonia that took his life in 1934.
