From "The Daily Oklahoman", 12, November, 1959, page 18. SHAWNEE - George Thorpe, brother of the immortal Jim, died in a Claremore Hospital where he had been the past month. Thorpe was a retired farmer and had lived in Pottawatomie County all his life. Mrs. Thorpe died March 29, 1957. Surviving are three sons, George Thorpe jr., Shawnee, Herman, near Shawnee, and Webster Thorpe, east of Shawnee; two daughters, Mrs. Viola Logan, Shawnee and Nellie Thorpe, east of Shawnee; a stepson, Frank Chism, Del City; 12 grandchildren and a brother, Ed Thorpe, wohse home is in California. Services will be announced by Roesch Brothers of Shawnee.
