Velma Mae Long was born December 20, 1921 at Newnata, Arkansas. She died October 19, 2007 at the age of 85. She was the daughter of James and Renee Pierce Diffey. She was united in marriage April 8 1928 to Oliver Long for 60 years. She was a member of Red Doors Baptist Church, she was a homemaker and a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by a son, David Long of Mountain View and a daughter, Robin Beckham and her husband Donald of Mountain View, 11 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two infant sons, Clarence Oliver Long Jr. and Roger Dale Long, and one son, James Albert Long and one daughter, Lucille Greenway and one grandson, Colby Long, two brothers, Milburn Diffey and Garfield Diffey, four sisters, Ella Diffey, Ola Wilson Clarcie Webb and Essie Barham.

Visitation is 4 - 7 p.m., Sunday, October 21, 2007 at Roller Crouch Chapel, Mtn. View.

The funeral service is 2 p.m., Monday, October 22, 2007 at Red Doors Baptist Church with the Reverend Junior Avey and Junior Barham officiating. Burial will be in Red Doors Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Lynne Diffey, Jimmy Long, Bud Turpin, Troy Morrow, Dwain Crymes and J.E. Webb. Honorary pallbearers will be Leon Wilson, W.M. Wilson, Don Wilson, Doyle Webb, Burnis Webb, Andrew Barham, Richie Barham, David Diffey, Michael Diffey, J.E. Trammell, Ozell Webb, and Eldo Fletcher.

Roller Crouch Funeral Home in Mtn. View was in charge of the arrangements.
