George H. O'Shields, age 86, of Greenville, South Carolina passed away on Thursday, February 18, 2021. George was born February 16, 1935 in Davidson, North Carolina to Eva Jane Waldrop O'Shields Trotter and Lawrence Grady O'Shields.

For over 40 years, Mr. O’Shields was a custom home builder in the Upstate. Along with his strong work ethic, he truly enjoyed carpentry, fishing, Atlanta Braves‘ baseball and Clemson Tigers’ football. He never met a stranger and will be best remembered for his legacy of love and dedication to his family and to God.

George is survived by his wife June Mullinax Nantz O'Shields of Greenville; son George H. "Sam" O'Shields Jr. (Paulette) of Greenwood; daughter Kathy Marie O'Shields Motes of Hendersonville, NC; and step-daughter Jacqueline Nantz Lovegrove (Robb) of Greenville; sister Naomi Reynolds, sister Beulah Frasure and sister Barbara Sloan; granddaughter Lori O'Shields Shaw (Glenn), grandson George H. "Hank" O'Shields III (Kelly), granddaughter Melissa O'Shields Green (Matthew), grandson Casey O'Shields (Amanda), granddaughter Sara Grace Lovegrove, granddaughter Emilee Michelle Lovegrove, grandson Phillip Motes, granddaughter Janie Motes, grandson William Motes (Heather), granddaughter Katie Motes and granddaughter Autumn Motes.

George was preceded in death by his first wife Gladys L. O'Shields; step-son Dr. Joe A. Nantz; father Lawrence Grady O'Shields; mother Eva Jane Waldrop O'Shields Trotter and step-father Henry Trotter.

Mr. O'Shields also leaves nine great-grandchildren to cherish his memory.

A family viewing will be held Sunday, February 21, 2021 at 2:00pm at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 1 Pine Knoll Drive, Greenville, SC 29609. A funeral service for George will follow the viewing at 3:00pm. The family will be holding a private burial ceremony at a later date. Masks and social distancing will be observed during all services.
