Following is an obituary of Aaron Kellam, who was a resident of the Cuba community at one time. He has many acquaintances in the community who will be grieved to learn of his death. He lived four miles east of Cuba for several years.
Aaron Kellam was born August 6, 1842 at Bruce Cross Roads, North Carolina and died at a hospital in Des Moines, Iowa, February 13, 1927. He was the son of Nathan and Nancy Kellam. He had five brothers and three sisters. Those surviving him are, Harmon of Cottonwood Falls, Kansas: Jessie, Charles and Albert of Cicero, Indiana.
He was united in marriage to Mary Rachel George May May 28, 1864, who preceded him in death January 19, 1919. To this union two children, Alpha and Ora, the latter having departed this life May 17, 1915.
Aaron Kellam was born and raised a Friend and lived a Friend his entire life. He was a ever ready and willing to help in the upbuilding of the Church. He was a faithful companion and a loving father who cared dearly for his children and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all his relatives and friends.
He enlisted in the Home Guards in the Civil War and served in the raid against Morgan.
After leaving Cuba, Kansas he went to Oleo, Oklahoma and from there to Iowa.
He was only sick forty-eight hours before his death and was in terrible pain all of the time, but made no complaint. He was buried at Alva, Oklahoma by the side of his wife and daughter.
Those left to mourn his loss are his son, Alpha of Indianola, Iowa. with whom he had made his home recently: three grandchildren and one great-grandchild: Branson Aaron and Branson, Jr. of Des Moines, Iowa, Mrs. Lola Rigles of Lincoln, Nebr. and Marion G. of Greenfield, Iowa; and the brothers and sister before mentioned.
