Elllen Sofia Anderson was born about 1866 in Kansas, the daughter of Gjert "George" and Helga Tomine "Minnie" (Johnson) Anderson.
Ellen was appointed postmistress of the Lapland office in Greenwood County, Kansas, in February 1887.

Died, on Wednesday, August 31st, of typhoid fever. Miss Ellen Anderson, daughter of George Anderson, Esq., of Salem township. The deceased was a most modeset and excellent young lady and highly respected by the people of her neighborhood. The funeral occurs to-day.
