According to,information provided for the 1901 Census of Canada, Charles Drinkwater immigrated to Canada in 1870.

The Drinkwater Family appears in the 1871 Census of Canada in the St. George’s Ward of Ottawa. Charles was aged 27 and in the civil service, his wife Sarah was aged 21, and Alice Maud was aged 10 months. The Census date in 1871 was April 2nd, so Alice would have been born about June 1870.

By the taking of the 1881 Census, the Drinkwater family was living in the St. Antoine Ward of Montreal,Quebec. Charles Drinkwater was aged 37 and employed as a Secretary for TGR Syndicate. He was living with his wife Sarah aged 31 and children Alice aged 10, Mabel aged 7, and Graham aged 6. Also living with the family were Kate Cameron aged 21, a servant, Sarah McLeod aged 24, a servant, and Annie Graham aged 18.

The 1891 Census shows that the Drinkwater family was residing in the St. Antoine Ward of Montreal, Quebec. Charles Drinkwater was aged 45 and employed as a Secretary with the C.P Railway. Living with him were his wife Sarah aged 38, and children, Alice aged 18, born in Ontario, Mabel aged 16, born in Ontario, Graham aged 15, born in Quebec and Kenneth aged 7, born in Quebec.

At the time of his death, Charles was living at 184 Mansfield Street, Montreal, Quebec. He was employed as a Legislative Representative for the CPR. The Beechwood Cemetery register lists his cause of death an pneumonia. His remains were interred April 25, 1908.
