Oscar G. Best, 78, of Edmond, OK, passed away. Born November 30, 1928 to Clifford and Kate Best, in Hennessey, OK. Oscar lived in El Reno and graduated from El Reno High School in 1946, while working at Johnny's Grill. After receiving his Associate's degree from El Reno Junior college, he married Jo Beryl Long on June 14, 1951. Later that year, Oscar joined the Air Force. He then began his career, with Dowell, while in El Reno and moved to Edmond in 1961. Oscar retired, from Dowell, in 1983; at that time Oscar opened 'Best Burgers" his dream onion fried hamburger restaurant. Hunting, fishing, and bowling were Oscar's favorite hobbies, especially with his four sons and grandsons. Oscar also loved to attend all of his grandchildren's sporting events and was their number one fan. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and grandson, Gregory Best. He is survived by his wife, Jo Best; sons, David and wife Jill Best, Danny and wife MarySue Best, Jeff and wife Luisa Best, Brad and wife Dianna Best; along with six grandchildren, Angie, Andy, Kelby, Erika, Parker, Gavin; and three great-grandchildren, Jared, Hunter, and Peyton. Memorial services will be held Saturday, October 6, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. at Matthews Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Gracelawn Cemetery in Edmond.
