He graduated from Linton High School, obtained undergraduate degrees from Vincennes University and the University of Indianapolis, a Masters in Education from Indiana University, a Doctorate of Religion from Indiana Christian University, and a Doctorate of Theology from West Theological Seminary.
He was an Ordained Minister of the Assemblies of God since 1972. He has served in a variety of ministerial and leadership capacities including District Presbyter, President of the Ministerial Association, Assistant Chaplain, Bible College Professor, as well as, Lead Pastor for six churches in the Midwest. He also taught elementary school in Martinsville, IN and elementary and middle school in Fayetteville, NC.
He enjoyed gardening, bird watching and collecting miniature John Deere tractors and Santa Claus figurines.
He invested his life sharing resources to empower others to excel in life. He was a master teacher, an excellent communicator of God's Word, and a loving Pastor! He was a mentor to many young leaders and made a lasting impact in the lives of so many people. He was loved and will be greatly missed.
He was a loving husband, a devoted father, and a Godly example both in his words and deeds! To his grandchildren and great grandchildren he was simply "Grampy".
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Janice Ann (Chapman) Armpriester of Little River, SC; sons, James M. Armpriester, Jr. & Brenda C. (Perdue) Armpriester, John K. Armpriester & Darlena J. (Wellman) Armpriester, Joseph B. Armpriester & Shannon M. (Six) Armpriester; grandchildren James M. Armpriester, III & Alison J. (Wilkins) Armpriester, Gabriella R. (Armpriester) McLaughlin & Trevor J. McLaughlin, Joseph B. Armpriester, Jr., Courtney S. Armpriester, Lauren N. Armpriester; great-grandchildren, James M. Armpriester, IV and Lillia J. Armpriester
He was preceded in death by his parents.
