Jerry Allen Lemons, 81, of Locust Bayou, passed away peacefully at his home on February 9, 2021 after a brief battle with cancer.

He was born January 11,1940 in Little Rock.

Jerry was employed by Marty Wolfe Construction for many years and took pride in his carpentry and craftmanship skills. In his retirement years, he loved watching for the school bus at 3:30 every afternoon for Gracey and McKaylah made the Lemons’ house come to life!

He will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. A special thanks to his neighbors, Randy and Cathy Reynolds for their many years of friendship and showing the true meaning of a neighbor, his brother-in-law, William Proffitt for his almost daily check-ins; and Jake’s wife, MaryBeth Crawford Nations for assisting with his care. Also, the family extends a special thanks to the staff of Kindred Home Health and Ouachita County Medical Center Hospice.

Jerry was preceded in death by his son, Joey Allen Lemons; his parents, Rochester Lemons and Addie Lemons; his brothers, Harold Lemons and Thadys Lemons; his sister, Mary Alma Whilite; and his beloved grandson, Jake Crawford.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sharon Lemons; his children: Sherry Starr and husband, Mark of Locust Bayou, William Lemons and wife, Leigh Ann of Camden, and Debbie Evans of Little Rock and special friend, John Neely of Locust Bayou; his grandchildren: Jami Lucas and husband, Boone, Jordan Holder and husband, Jacob, Derek Lemons, and Jarod and Sara Evans; his great granddaughters, Gracey Crawford, McKaylah Crawford, Annabelle Holder, Brookelynn Holder, and Kate Lucas; his step-grandchildren, Blaine Starr and Justin Starr; his sister, Shirley Woldren of Santa Cruz, AZ; and a host of loving in-laws, nieces, and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at Locust Bayou Missionary Baptist Church. A private graveside service will be held at a later date at Sardis Cemetery where Jerry will be buried alongside his deceased son, Joey Allen, who passed away at 6 weeks old.
