John D. Koontz, 56, of Peoria Heights, formerly of Arkansas, passed away at 4:35 p.m. on Sunday, February 7, 2021 at his residence.
Born in Peoria, IL on August 15, 1964, a son of Robert “Bob” W. and Claris D. (McNinch) Koontz. His parents preceded him in death.
John is survived by his children, Tim (Kerrybeth) Bunting, Emily (Troy) McGee, John (Sarah) Koontz, Jr. and Hannah Koontz (Tim Coffey); sisters, Brenda Miller, Linda (Troy) Henderson and Mary (Martin) Kimble; a brother, Ben (Tiffani) Koontz; 6 grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He worked in construction as a welder for many years. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, listening to classic rock and thrift store shopping. John was also very fond of learning about history, especially family history.
Cremation rites have been accorded and a ceremony will be held in the spring in the Prairie Gardens at Springdale Cemetery.
