She graduated as Valedictorian from South Rich High School and attended Utah State University. She met a smooth talking young man from the Bear Lake Valley while cooking for a hay crew and subsequently accepted his marriage proposal. Lamont Jr. Pugmire and Ada were married in the Salt Lake Temple on September 27, 1939 and made their home in St. Charles, ID.
Ada masterfully convinced her 22 grandchildren each was her favorite. Her joy was further enriched with 71 great and five great-great grandchildren. Many will remember Ada as the friendliest postmaster in the postal service. She greeted all with professionalism and candor in her decades of service. Her country store and post office in St. Charles were not only a quaint place to shop, but a refuge for travelers. Ada valued her relationship with the Lord more than anything else.
She dedicated her life to Him and readily accepted the call to serve His sheep throughout her life. She cherished the opportunity to serve as a Relief Society president, was humbled when asked to teach Gospel Doctrine, and thrilled to teach primary children in her latter years. Ada is survived by "Willie" and their five children Tamara Bernson of Orem; Chad Pugmire of Highland; Ada Jane Hillier and Sonja Bassett of St. Charles; and Rex Pugmire of Orem. She leaves behind a sister Edna R. Bateman.
Funeral Services will be Wednesday, October 17 at 11a.m. in the St. Charles Ward Chapel. A viewing will be held at Matthew's Mortuary in Montpelier Tuesday evening from 6-8 and one hour prior to services in St. Charles.
Interment will be in the St. Charles City Cemetery.
