Robert “Bob” Lee Acree, Sr., 81, of Holts Summit, passed away on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at Capital Region Medical Center. He was born on September 15, 1939 in Fulton, Missouri, a son of the late George Robert and Opal Marie (Kemp) Acree. Bob was united in marriage on June 30, 1957 in Jefferson City to Kathleen “Kathy” Pierson.
Bob was a graduate of Fulton High School. He continued his education at Lincoln University, the University of Miami at Coral Gables and the University of Missouri-Columbia. Bob was employed with the Missouri Department of Corrections from 1964 until 1993, retiring as Superintendent. He also worked for the Missouri Department of Mental Health. Bob enjoyed sharing his knowledge with others and taught at St. Martin’s Catholic School, Adult and Basic Education at Lincoln University and Correctional Management at Truman State University.
Bob was a member of St. Andrews Catholic Church, Sunrise Optimist in Fulton and the Callaway County Historical Society. He was a founding member of the Jefferson City Kennel Club and served as State Director for the Missouri Jaycees. Bob served as an alderman for Lake MyKee and was a founding member of the Lake MyKee Investment Club. Bob enjoyed reading, the study of history, traveling, exploring the everglades and spending time with his cousin, Lee Fritz, and his extended family and friends.
Bob is survived by his children: Marie “Toni” Haulotte (Ken) of Georgetown, Texas, Robert Acree, Jr. of Columbia, Terence Acree (Barb) of Mexico, Andrea “Susie” Rogers (Shane) of New Bloomfield, COL George Acree (Valerie) of Polo and Peter “Nick” Acree (Christine) of Holts Summit and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife: Kathleen.
Private inurnment will be held at St. Andrew Catholic Church Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
