Four of his sons moved across the Wabash River, settling in Illinois, two in what is now Lawrence County and two in Wabash County. His Wabash County descendants dropped the "Tougas" from their name and eventually spelled their surname "Lovellette." In Lawrence County, they dropped the "dit Laviollette" variations and kept their older surname of Tougas, with varied spellings.
