She was born to Peter and Biagga (Macaluso) Barbato in Palermo, Sicily, May 17, 1878. She married George Selvaggio in 1900 and came to the U.S. four years later. A shoe repairman, Mr. Selvaggio ran his own shop on Main St in Hastings. He died in 1928.
Mrs. Selvaggio had lived in Hastings 58 years. She attended St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church.
Surviving are five children, two sons, Peter of Fultonville, N.Y., and Blaise of Hastings, and three daughters, Mrs. Joaquim (Josephine) Dos Santos of Hastings, Mrs. Anthony (Jennie) Cariello of Yonkers and Mrs. Dimitri (Margaret) Yesnick of Corona, L.I. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
